Participated in the International Alumni Project Seminar: ESD – Sharing and Linking International Best-Practice Approaches (May 1st – 11th)

Seyeon Harita Jeong, our researcher at Europe Office, attended in the 4th International Alumni Project Seminar (ANESCo seminar), which was held for 10 days in Greifswald (Germany) and nearby Baltic islands. ANESCo is a network of 80 international environmental experts who had their graduate studies in German universities. This year’s seminar focus laid on best practices of ESD in member countries.

The seminar included various programs such as case study presentations, didactic workshops and field researches; Harita contributed to the group with her inspiring presentation titled “ESD of S.Korea : Environmental Education for All in the High-tech Age.” Her presentation provoked vigorous discussions. Do we need more IT in environmental classes; How much and in which direction? What are the different needs of ESD projects in the Global North and South?

Finally, this ANESCo seminar encouraged us EEFARI to consider comprehensive strategies for more communication and cooperation between Global North-South, urban-rural areas, and generations. We also hope to incubate more international projects based on this network. An ANESCo seminar takes place every two years in one of the member countries. The next will be in Costa Rica in 2021.
